About

Angela Forte is passionate about colour. No other textile artist uses colour in the way that she does. Her woven tapestries are a riot of vibrant colour combinations that are a delight to the eye and the senses.

Angela studied woven textiles at NCAD and in the early 1980s set up a successful weaving studio in Dublin. Her large scale tapestries were commissioned by architects to hang in the offices of companies such as Bank of Ireland, IBM, Beamish and Crawford Brewing Ltd, Ulster Bank. The Office of Public Works also commissioned work for government departments and the Taoiseach's office. Her work also hangs in private collections in Ireland, Netherlands, USA and Saudi Arabia. Her work has appeared in exhibitions in Ireland and Great Britain.

"  I love to work on site specific pieces. Designing for a particular wall while taking into account the atmosphere and needs of the whole space, be it a foyer or board room. Colour is and important in our lives so I create work that enhances not only the interior but the lives of everyone who enters the space "

After a break from weaving for some years Angela was invited to exhibit new works at The Blue Egg Gallery in Wexford in 2017. VERVE the resulting show displayed the enthusiasm and energy of rediscovering a long lost love.
